I knew right when I walked in, that Union Station at One Main Street was going to be a perfect fit for me and my real estate appraisal business. I wanted to be close to the bike path, bring my dog Kobi to work, have ample parking, and be surrounded by other professionals.

Catamount Trail

It may seem odd for an organization that manages a 300-mile public cross-country ski trail the length of Vermont to have an office on the Burlington's Waterfront, but ever since we opened an office in 1985, the Catamount Trail Association has called Main Street Landing home. Though we are miles from the Catamount Trail, seeing the constant buzz of recreational activity along the waterfront gives us a wonderful daily reminder of how important our work is in providing and conserving the unique winter recreational opportunity the Catamount Trail provides to cross-country ski and snowshoe enthusiasts.

We chose our light-filled office at One Main Street because it's the perfect location for our association, as it's very accessible for our statewide members. The Heartworks Schools pay special attention to providing beautiful classrooms with abundant natural light and spaces that help to create a 'home away from home' for young children. Our school at 102 Lake Street incorporates all these elements along with the Burlington waterfront as a backdrop to all our activities. Running a sunscreen company in Vermont is not normal. We wanted a location that was as unique as we are and we found it in Main Street Landing. Being located right on the bike path and on the waterfront gives us a daily reminder of all the people outside enjoying themselves and in need of our product. It also gives us visibility with the local outdoor crowd. We're always stoked when someone stops by and says "cool location." The only thing we can't do is surf out of our front door.

In 1999, I bought Impact Resume and Business Services from her, and I knew that I wanted to stay here for a number of reasons, primarily the central location and close proximity to the waterfront, availability of parking for clients, and above all the friendly and supportive atmosphere between Main Street Landing staff and tenants.

Actually, it was my friend who discovered One Main Street. We were looking for a great location for a project studio a place to record some songs. This later evolved into Low Tech Studio, a full scale recording studio. A lot of musicians have made a lot of good music here. I think they have all enjoyed the downtown location, and the fact they're in an old train station it has a great vibe for recording. Through the years, Main Street Landing has been friendly and flexible, and always ready to work with me on any issues that arose. It's one reason I'm still here. And, of course, being right on the waterfront has been a real pleasure

As soon as I walked into the Wing Building, I knew this was the place we wanted to be. I liked the artistic mix and energy of the building. The cultural values of sustainability and redevelopment are ones that we share, and in many ways are directly applicable (physically and spiritually) to our particular areas of architectural practice, which include retirement housing, health care and multifamily housing. Films on issues of global concern and businesses devoted to environmentally and socially conscious projects are an excellent combination. Since 1994, Main Street Landing has been the home of the Vermont International Film Festival, the world's oldest environmental and human rights film festival. We have always appreciated the support of Main Street Landing's management. This year, we're having the Festival from October 11th to the 15th, at the brand new Waterfront Theatre. The two comfortable theaters, rooms for discussions and receptions, and ample parking make it the perfect place for a five-day celebration of films.
