Main Street Landing's Green List - Check it Out!!

GREEN LIST

Our Efforts in Environmentalism and Social Conscience
Phase One – Wing, CornerStone, and Union Station

** Recycled concrete, metal, and wood created from demolition and
during construction
** Saved structural steel to be reused within the project
** Ground up asphalt and reused it throughout the project
** Lumber from removal of old shed giving to a person who used it to
build his house in Charlotte
** Fly Ash was used in all the concrete
** Recycled rigid insulation was used throughout the project
** Sheetrock scraps were recycled
** Heat mirror windows were installed in the Wing Building which
allows solar gain in the winter and reflects the sun in the summer
** Installed 4 PC Free Carpet – which means there is no Latex
backing that would emit toxic fumes.
** A central mechanical room was created for all the buildings which
allows for the efficient and conservative use of fuel.
** Ducted air returns were used, which keeps the air fresh and
pure because we are ducting directly to the unit with return air
instead of using the space above the ceiling.
** Dense Pack insulation was used in all exterior walls – it is made
of recyclable materials and has a high insulation value.
** Glidden 2000 and Devo (no VOC) paint is used – it is toxic free
** Water based products are used – no petroleum based products
** Milk paint was used in the common areas which is toxic free
** Energy efficient design of electric consumption
** Materials of local origin have been used
** Recycled tire material was used for roof pavers
** Non-toxic cleaning supplies are used
** Environmental principles are distributed to all contractors,
sub-contractors, and tenants.

** Restaurant tenants must compost their food scraps in our
compost room in the parking garage which is then taken to the Intervale and turned into compost which is sold back to the public.
** Our tenants are required to use our on-site recycling center
for glass, paper, cardboard, plastic, and trash.
** A storm water garden was developed to treat the storm water
run off from all the buildings. Allowing for clean run off to enter
the City’s system before it gets to the lake
** Green space, shrubs, trees, ferns, and flowers are abundant
throughout our project. We have over 80 trees planted on our two
acre parcel called Phase One.
** We contracted with the State of Vermont to create a train
station at Union Station accommodating passenger rail into
Vermont – we support public transportation
** We rent to local tenants and provide incubator space for start ups
** We create a pedestrian friendly site that includes public plazas,
walkways, bridges, sidewalks, art galleries, and exhibit space,
performance space, and lobbies.
** We installed an electric car charging station in our parking garage.
** We support the arts throughout our projects and provide free space
to Arts Alive and donate over 5000 square feet of wall space to them
for monthly exhibits of local artist’s work.
** We purchase local art and display it throughout our common area
** We provide free parking for our tenants in our surface lot, and after
6 p.m. and on weekends, we allow the general public to park for free
** We use local contractors and local suppliers whenever possible, and
we shop local and try to focus on downtown when we make
purchases
** We installed a radiant heat floor in the Union Station Train Lobby
floor, and with the solar gain, we maintain heat in the winter, and a
cooling effect in the summer.
