SKINNY PANCAKE OPENS WITH HUGE SUCCESS AT LAKE & COLLEGE

Main Street Landing

This is an exciting opportunity unlike most in the food service industry: be part of a venture from the start, participate in its growth, gain valuable experience about start-ups, share and be heard on your insight as to how we can improve our product, service, atmosphere, performance!

The Skinny Pancake (best known for our crepe cart on Church Street) is opening a storefront on the Burlington Waterfront in one month!!! We are looking to hire good-natured individuals with experience as baristas, waitstaff, cooking, bartending. An interest/passion for the arts and sustainability is a plus. We have positions available at our brand-new storefront, our cart on Church Street and at festivals and special events and will be conducting interviews over the course of the next two weeks. The cart needs staff ASAP and the storefront opens Memorial Day weekend. Our festival & special events tour begins in mid-June.

About the Skinny Pancake:

The Skinny Pancake is four year old socially-responsible food venture cast in the spirit of some other Vermont-based food ventures you might be familiar with, like ”American Flatbread” and ”Ben & Jerry’s.”

We believe in the importance, potential and feasibility of the double-bottom line: profit and progress towards a more just and sustainable future. Our sustainable practices include an intensive commitment to local foods (we’re already part of the VFN), fair trade & organic coffee, composting, biodegradable packaging, reclaimed lumber build out on our storefront, the use of straight vegetable oil in our vehicles (including our small school bus used for festival touring), energy-efficient lighting and education. We are always looking for innovative partnerships and envelope-pushing sustainable practices to reduce our environmental footprint while continuing to produce our great product.

To date, we have maintained a street cart on Burlington’s open-air pedestrian mall, the Church Street Marketplace for four summers. We have also been attending fairs and festivals over the past two years throughout the region. We open our doors for a brand-new storefront Memorial Day weekend.

The storefront is situated in a high profile corner location of the brand-new LEED certified ”Main Street Landing” building on the Burlington waterfront. The space will be framed as a cafe/creperie/performance space, offering crepes, coffee drinks, smoothies, fondue, french fries, beer and wine in a casual atmosphere. There will also be a patio overlooking Lake Champlain. We anticipate hosting live evening entertainment in synergy with the black box theatre within the building.
